Numerous providers in the space will offer Transaction Risk Analysis (TRA), from card networks to Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and Merchants themselves. These models will leverage network insights, payment information, identity data and device information to build a Machine Learning (ML) algorithm that can detect fraud and reduce false positives. Merchants that decide to build an ML model themselves will have a highly tuned model for their business, but miss out on the broader payment network signals from other merchants and PSPs. To supplement and validate the identity data on the transaction, PSPs and merchants can leverage identity data providers like Ekata, and use device fingerprinting technology to identify unknown devices placing orders.
