Key Learnings from CNP 2017

CNP Expo 2017 wrapped up last week. It was another major gathering of eCommerce and Fintech giants. There were a few themes that struck me while talking with customers, prospects and partners in Orlando:

  • Go Big: Many companies are moving from planning to executing international strategies, but need to overcome the unique challenges and higher risk rates of cross-border transactions.
  • Go Fast: Speed is of the essence. Many digital goods companies and online lenders need very fast response times from their data providers to stay competitive and improve the customer experience.
  • Serve Business: The need for verifying SMBs is a common theme. As much as B2C ecomm is growing, B2B ecomm and business lending are exploding. Couple this expansion with the difficulty of verifying the identities of small business owners and it becomes a complex challenge.

It was encouraging (after years of proselytizing) to see merchants better understand that they need layers of fraud tools to fight fraud and quickly verify good customers. The integration of Ekata into three of the main fraud platforms (Accertify, CyberSource and Kount) has helped us be more readily available to merchants who have limited development resources.
